Purple Carrot: Spanish Morado

Purple Carrot: Spanish Morado

A unique variety developed by small farmers in Spain, this rare carrot variety has a richer flavor than traditional, orange carrots thanks to an abundance of anthocyanins.

This carrot is white inside while edible, and turns the darker color pictured after seeding in the second season..

(Daucus Carota)

Medium to large purple carrot with a white center. Mild and very sweet, with bountiful carrot flavor. The unusual color(originally the natural color for carrots) and the complex taste are due to a generous helping of anthocyanins. These antioxidants are very beneficial as part of a healthy diet. Visually striking, fast growing and easy to germinate, these are great carrots for milder summer temperatures. In warm climates at about 90 degrees and warmer, this variety bolts in the first season, producing a large amount of seeds as an annual rather than a biennial.
