Corn

Worldwide, corn production exceeds both rice and wheat.

Corn is also used for ethanol, animal feed, corn starch and corn syrup.

Also called maize outside of North America, corn was domesticated in southern Mexico about 10,000 years ago.

The six major types of maize are dent corn, flint corn, pod corn, popcorn, flour corn, and sweet corn.
