Famous for its fine grain, and nearly coreless compared to other varieties. This is probably the king of the farmer’s market, and definitely a favorite among dedicated home gardeners. A great variety for heavy soils, producing uniform roots about six inches long and an inch across. First introduced in 1850s France by the Vilmorin Seed Company of Henri Vilmorin.
