Bicolor, red-and-white globe radish, bright, quick growing and suitable for early and late season sowings. Sparkler is a western-type radish, as opposed to an Asian variety. Also known as White Tip and Sparkler White Tip.
Sow seeds every 2 or 3 weeks for continual harvest. Radishes grow best during the cooler parts of the growing season. Plant in a mostly sunny spot in moderately rich soil kept fairly well watered.
Direct seed once the soil can be worked in early spring. Cover seeds lightly with soil, spacing 1 to 1 1/2 inches apart.
Once established, thin down to 1 1/2 to 2 inches apart. One foot between rows, or plant in beds with equal 2-inch spacing in every direction.
Keep soil moderately moist during the week-long germination period.
Begin harvesting when roots are almost an inch across. Sparkle can mature within 25 days. Once the root becomes visible, they can be pulled.
